WHAT TO EXPECT - Before Session
It is helpful if you tell your child in advance a little about what to expect. Some things you might want to let them know:
You will stay with them the entire time;
The therapist will touch their body and head gently;
The reason you are coming is to help them feel better in their body;
They know their body best and their input is welcome.
Your child will be learning and processing a lot of information. This is easiest when they are as well nourished and rested as possible.
You will fill out intake forms that include giving the therapist permission to work with your child. Some therapists may request a phone conversation before the session or have forms to complete before you arrive. Please check when you schedule.
If you or your child is ill, please reschedule or check directly with your therapist.
WHAT TO EXPECT - During Session
WHAT TO EXPECT - After Session
Children will usually have one of two reactions: either they will sleep heavily and be very relaxed after their session; or they will be very energized. Please be prepared for either possibility.
It is helpful to have some unscheduled time after the session. This gives the body and mind a chance to integrate changes.
Changes will continue for several days after the session. Any exercises or homework given by the therapist is to continue to support these changes. It is helpful if you can take note of differences.
